Have you ever had those coated chicken burgers from the grocery store….the broke student, these are really cheap, in a bag chicken burgers? Yeah, these aren’t those.
I really wanted burgers for dinner tonight, but not beef. I knew there was ground turkey in the freezer, but it was just a small package and there was only one. No leftovers that way! So I took out two chicken breasts, also.
I made them both the same, but the chicken burgers needed an extra step & one extra ingredient.
- 2 chicken breasts, chopped in a food processor, or diced crazy small with a knife or two
- 1-2 TB of Dijon mustard
- 4-5 TB of blue cheese, or cheddar, or mozzarella…just add some cheese
- 2 TB of finely chopped onion, white or green, whatever you have
- 1/4 cup of oatmeal….the chicken was quite wet, I decided it needed a binding agent. I didn’t add this to the ground turkey.
Mix it all – gently. Form into patties. My chicken made 4 burgers, probably about 1/4 pound each. I got my hands wet to make the patties and you may want to, as well. The meat sticks with determination to hands and the water helps.
I cooked these (actually, my son cooked these) in a cast iron frying pan….stove top real estate was in short supply because I was using the air fryer at the same time, otherwise I would have used the cast iron grill and done all 8 burgers at once. The turkey also made 4 burgers. 🙂
I made some burger buns and some buffalo cauliflower bites (which is why the air fryer was taking up real estate on the stove top).
Yes, I put some avocado on there, because I had some and it was good! Looking at it now, I really think a pickle would have been awesome on there, too.
