Coleslaw Dressing

Did anyone else know it was this ridiculously easy to make coleslaw dressing? Four ingredients and done?

We were having pulled pork for supper, and we like coleslaw in the sandwich – had it like that in a restaurant and forever more it must be that way. Anyway, I dropped off at Co-Op on my way home to grab a bag of coleslaw because there was no ambition to slice and shred cabbage and carrots.

While I was there, I was perusing the fancy salad dressings and realizing their prices have jumped about two dollars a bottle, and they were pretty expensive, relatively speaking, before. Rather than buying that, I figured I’d come home and toss some mayonnaise in and call it good.

I got home, and this is a fast food kind of meal…open a jar of home canned pork, dump in some barbeque sauce, open a can of beans, cook a package of macaroni and cheese, toss the salad into a bowl and dress it and open a bag of buns. 15 minutes, 20 tops, and supper is done & on the plates.

Then the interwebs sucked me in…and off I went, seeing if there was a coleslaw dressing that didn’t include apple cider vinegar, since I didn’t have any, and lo and behold, there was!


  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 TB vinegar
  • 1-1/2 TB lemon juice
  • 2 TB sugar
  • Salt & pepper to taste- if you wish

Whisk together. Tastes very, very similar to the Kraft stuff, but no extra ingredients that are unpronounceable.

Yummy and good for you…not the dressing, perhaps, but the salad certainly is.

It makes enough to dress one of those bags of pre-shredded, tri colour coleslaw you can buy in the grocery store. Not the massive ones, but the little ones.

I will never buy that dressing again….sorry Kraft. 🙂
